Glueing jig transporter

On an automated boat hull glueing line, an overhead transporter was handling the glueing jigs.

Before reprogramming

1- Approximately three times per week, the overhead jig transporter desynchronized from the hull conveyor, involving a sequence break in the assembly cell.

2- The only way to restart the system was to empty the hull conveyor. This generated a loss of 5 hull/body assemblies every time.

After reprogramming

1- When a sequence break occurs, the operator only reposition the hulls on the operator screen.

2- Restarting is done without withdrawing any hull.

Benefits

1- Compared to the previous season, the loss of 169 hulls was not repeated

(saving $90 000. / season on a 10 week production timeframe).

2- Production rate went from 26 to 29 boats per hour (capacity increased by 10%).

3- Return on investment within only 1 month.

Free demo

We have prepared a short demo with ReflexTM. This is done on a scaled down conveyor, with different sensors and actuators.

During the presentation, different programming methods of PLC are compared, including SFC and GRAFCET. Typical problems and machine safety will be discussed.

The presentation is a must for control engineers, directors of maintenance, operations and health & security departments.

This demo will catch your interest and shed new light on system programming.
